These are the required classes before an adult or teen can grade to the next level.
10th to 9th kyu minimum 6 classes.
9th to 8th kyu minimum 8 classes.
8th to 7th kyu minimum 12 classes.
Students attempting green belt (6th kyu) must average at least once a week for the six weeks prior to grading.
7th to 6th kyu minimum 20 classes.
6th to 5th kyu minimum 25 classes.
5th to 4th kyu minimum 30 classes.
Students attempting brown belt (3rd kyu) must average at least once a week for the eight weeks prior to grading.
4th to 3rd kyu minimum 35 classes.
3rd to 2nd kyu minimum 35 classes.
2nd to 1st kyu minimum 35 classes.
Students attempting black belt (Shodan-ho) must average at least once a week for the eight weeks prior to grading.
1st to Black Belt minimum 40 classes.
All other criteria must be met.
Previous training may be taken into account. Times may be shortened at higher grades discretion.

Bruce has competed in numerous open tournaments since 1975, retiring in 2015 a forty years winning 29 Gold-21 Silver and 14 Bronze, along the way placing third at the 1985 Asian Pacific Championships and representing Australia in 1984 at the World Championships and winning national and state titles. Winning USA OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 2011. He was National Kumite Coach from 1992 – 2005 taking 15 teams to international events, including three World Championships. At State level he has enjoyed a successful role as Senior State Coach from 1987 to 2000; he was appointed Head Kumite Coach 2009-2015.
